The prevalence of insomnia disorders is much higher in incarcerated individuals than in the general population, with pharmacotherapy treatment in prisons – raising concerns about dependency. Prof. Dr. Christoph Nissen developed SLEEPexpert, a pragmatic behavioral program empowering psychiatric inpatients to manage their sleep health. In collaboration with Prof. Nissen's search group University of Geneva, we are now implementing and evaluating this program among female prisoners at Hindelbank correctional facility.
Newly admitted inmates at JVA Thorberg spend two weeks in the Assessment Center (AC) before transitioning to the general prison population. During this period, a standardized assessment is documented in the Baseline Report to improve case understanding, risk management, and correctional planning. The evaluation of the Baseline Report aims to provide well-founded insights into its relevance and effectiveness for correctional planning and risk differentiation.
This study explores whether pedophilic tendencies can diminish or remit as a result of personality maturation during forensic psychotherapy. Clinical observations suggest that individuals diagnosed with pedophilia or suspected of it often no longer meet diagnostic criteria following long-term treatment, particularly when initially marked by immature personality traits or disorders.
Through a retrospective file analysis of treated patients in our forensic outpatient clinic over a ten-year period, the study investigates whether personality development is associated with the remission of pedophilic tendencies. The central question is whether there is a direct link between personality maturation and the reduction or disappearance of pedophilic features.
