Mobile Phone Assistance for Managing Anger in Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence during Pregnancy (MAP-IPV)

This project addresses the existing gap in voluntary interventions for emotionally dysregulated men aimed at reducing IPV against their pregnant female partners in low-income countries. In the context of MAP-IPV, the “Harmful Anger Mitigation Intervention” (HAMI) was developed and initially evaluated in Kenya.

The full HAMI is a blended intervention that combines a short face-to-face group training in anger management skills for men with a subsequent mobile phone-delivered Ecological Momentary Intervention (EMI) that supports the application of the skills learned in their daily lives.

The primary objective of the study is to test the feasibility and efficacy of this blended intervention in a field setting in Ethiopia, using data from both male and female partners.
